Safeguarding
Safeguarding at BWJPS
At BWJPS, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where all children can thrive. We follow statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, and ensure that all staff understand their responsibility to safeguard and protect children. Our safeguarding procedures apply to all members of our school community, including staff, volunteers, governors, and visitors.

How We Keep Children Safe
We have robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place to ensure that every child is protected. All staff receive regular training on child protection, and we follow safer recruitment practices to ensure that all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children. Visitors and volunteers must follow our safeguarding procedures, including signing in and wearing a school badge. We also work closely with external agencies to support children and families when needed.
If you have a concern about a child’s welfare, it is important to report it as soon as possible. Pupils are encouraged to speak to a trusted adult if they feel unsafe, and staff are trained to respond appropriately. Parents and carers can report concerns directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. We handle all concerns with sensitivity and confidentiality, ensuring that children receive the support they need.
-
What To Do If You Are Concerned
If you are concerned about a child’s well being, please share your concern with one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads, at the earliest opportunity. Contact them on 0161 766 2888 or bwjp@bury.gov.uk
If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff or volunteer in school, then you should report this to the Headteacher who will consider what action to take and seek relevant advice.
If the concern relates to the Headteacher, refer the matter to a Co-Chair of Governors: Mr Peter Ross or Rabbi Avrohom Jaffe or our Safeguarding Governor Mrs Nadia Myerson.

Safeguarding Procedures for School Staff
Teachers and Teaching Assistants monitor the well being of children on a day to day basis. If they, or any other member of the team, have any concerns relating to the safeguarding of a child they will on Edaware. This goes directly to the Designated Safeguarding Leads who will decide what actions to take.
We regularly work with a range of agencies locally who can help us to ensure the best outcome for the children in our care.

Key Policies

Online Safety & Well Being
Children’s safety online is just as important as their safety in school. At BWJPS, we teach pupils about online safety through our curriculum and provide guidance on how to stay safe when using the internet. Our school monitors online activity on school devices, and we encourage parents to set up parental controls at home. We also offer well being support to help children with their emotional health, ensuring they feel safe and supported at all times.

This assessment is reviewed regularly and informs our policies, staff training, curriculum provision, and wider safeguarding procedures, ensuring we meet our statutory responsibilities and keep children safe.
