“It doesn’t just come overnight. You’ve got to train for it and believe in yourself; that’s the most important thing.”

BWJPS Approach to PE

At BWJPS, we believe that physical education develops children into physically confident, skilful and healthy pupils. We provide a high-quality, varied curriculum that develops children’s physical skills and knowledge of different sports over time. Our curriculum is specifically designed for the needs of our pupils and ensures children are physically active for a sustained period of time. It exposes them to vocabulary associated with health, fitness and sports science.

Our PE curriculum supports pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sports and other physical activities inside the school and in the local community. We are committed to delivering a broad and balanced PE curriculum enabling positive participation in physical activity and aim to provide all children with opportunities to represent BWJPS in extra curricular activities; promoting healthy competition and values such as teamwork and fairness.

We are committed to delivering a broad and balanced Physical Education (PE) curriculum enabling positive participation in physical activity. All children, from EYFS to Year 6, have two PE sessions a week with a qualified sports coach. Children in Years 1 to 6 are also given the opportunity to attend after school sports clubs to fully broaden their skillset.
