Careers Curriculum
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of the dreams.”

Inspiring Futures
At Bury and Whitefield Jewish Primary School, we believe every child should grow up with high aspirations and confidence in their future. Our Careers Curriculum is designed to broaden horizons, challenge stereotypes and help children understand that there are many exciting pathways open to them.
We want our pupils to dream big, believe in themselves and develop the skills they need to succeed in later life.
Our Approach
Careers education is woven throughout school life and taught in an age‑appropriate, engaging way. Learning is built around six key strands:
- Aspirations – encouraging children to aim high and believe in their potential
- World of Work – learning about a wide range of jobs and careers
- Skills for the Future – developing teamwork, communication, resilience and problem‑solving
- Pathways and Routes – understanding that there are different ways to reach career goals
- Encounters and Experiences – meeting visitors, taking part in workshops and real‑life experiences
- Self‑Awareness – reflecting on strengths, interests and achievements
How Children Learn
Careers learning is embedded across the curriculum and wider school experiences, including:
- Curriculum links in all subjects.
- Assemblies and themed days.
- Visitors and role models from a variety of professions.
- Educational visits and enrichment opportunities.
This ensures careers education feels relevant, inspiring and meaningful.
Inclusive and Aspirational
We are committed to equality and inclusion. Our Careers Curriculum actively challenges stereotypes and promotes equal opportunities, helping every child to see that their background or circumstances do not limit their future.
Preparing Children for Life Beyond School
By the time pupils leave BWJPS, they will have:
- High aspirations and positive attitudes to learning
- A growing understanding of the world of work
- Essential skills for the future
- Confidence to take the next steps in their education.
Working with Families
We value the support of parents and carers and welcome opportunities to work with our community. If you would like to support our Careers Curriculum by sharing your profession or experiences, please contact the school office.
Together, we inspire our children to aim high and look forward to bright futures.
